About Us
Empowering a Profession. Building a Community.
Who We Are
The Network of Actuarial Women and Allies (NAWA) is an international organization dedicated to helping women—and those who support them—thrive in the actuarial profession. We’re here to connect, empower, and advance women actuaries and their allies at every stage of their career.
Our community brings together students, exam takers, professionals, career changers, executives, allies, and organizations with one shared purpose: to build a future where all actuaries have the support, opportunities, and connections they need to succeed.
Why NAWA
From the 1980s through the early 2010s, women made steady gains in the actuarial profession—rising from just 20% of the field to 31%. But over the last decade, that progress has stalled.
Worse yet, the numbers shrink even further at the top. Female actuaries remain significantly underrepresented in senior leadership roles, board positions, and industry decision-making tables.
It’s time for change.
And meaningful change doesn’t happen in isolation. That’s why NAWA was founded—not just for women, but with allies, organizations, and changemakers who believe in building a profession where talent thrives. We can all work together to build stronger actuaries and a more robust profession.
Our Mission
To connect and empower women and allies of all backgrounds, races, ethnicities, and life circumstances to be successful in the actuarial profession.
Our Foundational Principles
We aim to:
Support women and allies in the actuarial profession at entry, in leadership positions, and within all professional organizations.
Create a sense of community amongst women and allies across sectors, specialties, and walks of life.
Provide opportunities for personal and professional development tailored toward women and allies
Our Vision
A profession where women actuaries and their allies are empowered to lead, grow, and belong—without limits.
